    Head of Insurance & Compliance
West Midlands | Hybrid Working Available
Salary: Up to £60,000 + £6,000 Car allowance + Benefits

A well-established and growing warranty insurance business is looking to appoint an experienced insurance professional to lead its insurance function and help shape the next stage of its growth in this role which will have a main focus on their compliance, risk and regulatory responsibilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone from an underwriting, broking, delegated authority, insurer relationship management or insurance compliance background who is looking for a broader role with greater autonomy, influence and visibility than they may currently have within a larger company.

The business has built a strong reputation within the warranty and protection market, working with major national retail partners across the UK. While it has achieved significant growth, it has retained an entrepreneurial and agile culture where decisions are made quickly, bureaucracy is limited, and individuals are empowered to make a real impact.

This is not a role where you’ll be responsible for a small piece of a much larger business.  Instead, you’ll take ownership of a wide-ranging insurance function, combining insurer relationship management, portfolio oversight, regulatory compliance, governance, operational improvement and strategic development.
For someone currently working within a larger insurer, MGA or broker, this position offers the chance to step into a far broader remit. You’ll have direct exposure to senior leadership, genuine influence over business decisions and the opportunity to shape how the insurance function evolves moving forward.

With an established operational team already in place, including support for day-to-day activities, you’ll be able to focus on insurer partnerships, underwriting engagement, portfolio performance, compliance oversight and driving business improvement initiatives.

The successful individual will play a key role in ensuring the business continues to maintain strong insurer relationships, profitable products and robust regulatory standards whilst supporting future growth plans.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Act as the primary relationship holder with insurer, underwriting and capacity partners.
    • Analyse portfolio performance, loss ratios, claims trends and management information to support commercial decision making.
    • Identify, assess and manage insurance risks and exposures.
    • Lead the development, review and implementation of insurance policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
    • Oversee FCA compliance requirements and the compliance monitoring plan.
    • Provide regulatory and compliance guidance to stakeholders across the business.
    • Investigate, manage and escalate significant compliance issues where required.
    • Produce meaningful management information and reports for senior leadership.
    • Conduct and oversee compliance reviews and audits.
    • Deliver insurance and regulatory training across the organisation.
    • Support the ongoing development and optimisation of warranty and claims processes.
    • Contribute to system enhancement and implementation projects designed to improve efficiency, controls and customer outcomes.
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory, ethical and industry best practice standards.
    • Help shape the future direction of the insurance function as the business continues to grow.

To be considered you will need to be an experienced insurance professional from an underwriting, broking, compliance or insurer-facing background. You could currently be working in underwriting, delegated authority, governance or compliance, with a strong understanding of FCA regulation and experience operating within a regulated environment. You’ll be commercially minded, comfortable working with portfolio performance data and MI, and confident building relationships with insurers, brokers and senior stakeholders.

This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a broad insurance function within a successful and growing business. You’ll enjoy far greater autonomy than is typically available in a larger organisation, with direct access to senior leadership and the ability to influence insurer relationships, compliance, portfolio performance and future strategy. If you’re looking for a role where you can make a visible impact and help shape a business’s continued growth.
