Richard Coleman

I am responsible for the management and development of the UK regions team based in Birmingham covering all areas of the UK outside of London. The main focus of the regional team is within the underwriting, broking and claims sectors and all related areas from independent business’s up to global corporate Insurance business’. Personally I mainly focus on underwriting and claims roles with additional experience and ability to manage a variety of other areas including risk and compliance, wordings, audit, In-house, volume based customer service, HR and finance. Having worked in insurance originally I have vast experience within an Insurance Agency environment as well as working in house within a Global Insurer giving me a unique understanding of both client and candidate and the requirements and expectations of both.

Why did you join IPS?

After spending 12 years at IPS Group from 2011 to 2023 I took the opportunity to experience an In-House Talent Acquisition environment at Arch Insurance where I experienced and learnt a lot about the inner running’s and requirements of an Insurer. After a couple of years the opportunity to return to IPS whilst managing the regional team was presented to me which excited me knowing the reputation and professionalism that we offer combined with the opportunity to grow the regional division.

What are your interests outside of work

Outside of work a lot of my time is taken up by trying to keep up with my kids. As a family we enjoy travelling and have a big trip to Japan booked for 2026. Since lockdown I have been a keen runner and try to run most days if possible mainly around the hills of Sutton Park. I also collect vinyl records and have an ever-expanding collection of records across a wide genre from Indie to hip hop. I love having a dig in my local record store to see what I can find. I am also a life long Aston Villa fan and season ticket holder.
