New Business Underwriter – Care & Charity
IPS Group are supporting a leading insurer in the search for a New Business Underwriter to join its award-winning Care & Charity team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the most respected underwriting teams in the Care market, focusing exclusively on new business generation across the Care and Charity sectors. Working within a high-performing team of experienced underwriters, you’ll be responsible for assessing and underwriting new business opportunities, building broker relationships and helping to drive growth across an established and profitable portfolio.
The team specialises in a broad range of Care and Charity risks, including care homes, vulnerable adult services, children’s care providers, social welfare organisations and specialist charity insurance programmes. With a strong reputation in the market and long-standing broker relationships, you’ll benefit from a healthy flow of opportunities while having the autonomy to make commercial underwriting decisions and develop your own broker network.
Whilst this is primarily an underwriting role, there is an increasing focus on market engagement and relationship management. You’ll work closely with brokers to identify and win new business opportunities, provide product expertise, support training initiatives and become a recognised specialist within the Care sector. As the team continues to evolve, underwriters are being given greater exposure to external stakeholders and a more visible role in supporting business growth.
We’re keen to speak with individuals who have at least two years’ underwriting experience within the Care or Charity sectors and who can demonstrate a strong new business mindset. You’ll be commercially aware, comfortable making underwriting decisions within authority and capable of building credibility with brokers and internal stakeholders alike. Existing broker relationships and experience delivering presentations or training would be advantageous, but are by no means essential.
The hiring manager is also open to hearing from ambitious Assistant Underwriters looking to step into their first Underwriter position, as well as specialist Care or Charity Brokers with strong technical knowledge and a genuine interest in moving into underwriting.

In return, you’ll receive a competitive salary of up to £50,000, a quarterly bonus scheme with target earnings of up to 20%, and a flexible hybrid working model. The role can be aligned to Birmingham, Leeds or Manchester with three days in the office and two working from home.
