New Business Property & Casualty Underwriter
We’re looking for a Property & Casualty Underwriter to join a well-established, forward-thinking commercial insurer in Birmingham, with a clear focus on new business. This is an opportunity to be part of a national insurer known for investing in its people, empowering decision-making, and placing long-term broker relationships at the heart of its strategy.
You’ll be working within the mid-market commercial space, underwriting a diverse range of P&C risks, with a strong emphasis on generating and converting new business opportunities. The role will suit someone who enjoys being out in the market, developing broker relationships, and trading effectively to deliver profitable growth across the region.
The work is varied, fast-paced, and collaborative, with plenty of scope to take ownership and influence outcomes. You’ll be expected to balance technical underwriting with commercial judgement, playing a key role in building and strengthening broker partnerships.

You’ll split your time between the Birmingham office, broker visits, and working from home. On average, around 60% of your week will be spent in the office or out in the market, with flexibility around how you structure the rest of your time, offering a strong balance of collaboration, autonomy and work-life balance.
We’re keen to hear from individuals with underwriting experience, strong commercial awareness, and a good understanding of the P&C market, whether from an insurer or an MGA.
