James Dick – 30 year work anniversary
Many congratulations to James Dick on his anniversary of joining IPS Group 30 years ago. James is a highly respected and professional recruitment consultant in the Risk Management market to whom both clients and candidates speak to when considering hiring or moving.
James, many thanks for your hard work and dedication over the 30 years and we look forward to many more years of success for you at IPS.

“I started my working life as a loss adjuster, joining Clement Doherty as a school leaver before moving to Thomas Howell Selfe & Co (later to be purchased by Crawford via Swiss Re). I have always believed that gaining some technical experience served me well before moving into recruitment.
I joined IPS in December 1993 and, the fact that the time has gone so quickly, is a testament to the interesting/absorbing work I’ve handled, along with support/encouragement I’ve received from colleagues at IPS. Also, I am keen to acknowledge the close ties established with a wide variety of clients and candidates. I have always strived to listen to both the client instructions, but importantly, understand the applicant and fully appreciate their aims and career aspirations. Ultimately, insurance is a people business and, yes, there is always a contract in place, but relationships steer everything.
As a final point, I just want to make a few acknowledgments. I consider myself very fortunate that Nicholas Burrell, a director at IPS took a chance on me back in 1993. Subsequently I had the opportunity to learn from the senior leaders at IPS at the time-Edward Snell, (whom I had known since our school days until his untimely death in 2009) Christopher Dickman and Jeremy Cross. My most special thanks goes to the support/administration/marketing team at IPS; they all work in such a committed way to ensure that the consultants are able to produce their work, as well as, playing a vital part in maintaining a positive reputation, when often being the first point of contact.
Lastly, I have had the enormous benefit of working very closely with Sarah Smith-(UK Admin Manager) throughout my time at IPS. Owing to my considerable deficiencies with processes/portals etc , It is no coincidence that Sarah, in contrast, who is hugely proficient on these disciplines, was persuaded to help me; I owe her the biggest debt of appreciation.”
