Andrew Gartside – 35 year work anniversary

What initially attracted you to IPS?
    The Yellow Pages (seriously!)

How has IPS changed over the past 35 years?
Since four of my current colleagues were already here when I arrived, thankfully not everything has but given that we worked entirely with paper files back then and no computers, mobiles, internet etc I think technology has probably been responsible for the biggest changes in my time here.

Recruitment has a reputation of high staff turnover – what has made you stay for 35 years?
Only having one career job doesn’t seem like the best PR for a recruiter but the people and the relaxed but highly successful working environment have been the main reason.

Best habit at work your colleagues would say you have?
I’m not aware they feel I have one but probably my endlessly cheerful demeanour…

    Best memory at IPS?
After 35 years my memory isn’t what it was but the management buyout was a highlight as it was such a game changer. It’s been quite something to work with such wonderful colleagues to help steer the company through good times and more challenging ones over such a long period of time.
