What initially attracted you to IPS?
I came to IPS to get myself another job in Insurance. When Jeremy Cross offered me the job at IPS, he told me I could call him on his mobile over the weekend, that he was water skiing and would call me back if not able to answer. Well, I thought, a boss with a mobile phone and off water skiing - these are the high flyers I should be working for!
Recruitment has a reputation of high staff turnover – what has made you stay for 20 years?
The market we work in has so little relation to 1998. Whilst I have a number of the same colleagues, with the way we work and engage with market, it really doesn’t feel that I have been doing the same job for 20 years.
Oh, and IPS is the best recruiter to work for...
How has IPS changed over the past 20 years? Computers!
Best habit at work your colleagues would say you have:
Historically it was making lots of tea
Will work to achieve what is best for the team and IPS
Worst habit at work your colleagues would say you have:
Currently it is the quality of tea I make. I can’t work out where it all went so wrong...
Long winded emails and meetings
Best Memory at IPS:
I always loved the summer parties. Also our trips to Paris and Brussels, and the Police being called on to train back from Brussels...
