    A highly regarded Insurance business who focus on the new build property market seeks to hire a Structural Engineer to join their specialist engineering team. You will provide specialist engineering support to determine that designs submitted by Clients meet business criteria and periodic reviews of construction in progress to ensure compliance with best practice.

    Key duties include:

    • To undertake assessments of Structural designs for a wide range of building types, with particular focus to their substructure.
    • Reviews from philosophy to detailed calculations in line with Company’s guidance.
    • To carry out Technical Audits (Structural Review) on selected structures to ensure that they represent a standard risk to the Insurer for the duration of the warranty and/or compliance with Approved Document A of the Building Regulates for building control purposes.
    • Initial and ongoing liaison with developers/clients – offer technical advice and guidance. ·
    • Ongoing liaison with Project Managers/Co-ordinators and surveyors on technical matters – must ensure that standards are being maintained and procedures adhered to.
    • To provide technical advice on claims as well as undertaking site inspections and assessments on more complex claims to assess causes and identify remedial works.
    • To provide advice to the Marketing and Underwriting Departments on technical areas so that team members are fully informed when dealing with potential clients.

    To be considered you must be a Qualified Engineer (CEng. MIStructE, or similar) with post qualification experience. You must have in depth technical knowledge of Structural Engineering principles applicable to Building Regulations, British Standards, Eurocodes and other recognised third party publications (BRE, CIRIA, TRADA, ICE etc.) with a basic understanding of insurance terminology and procedures.
