    Background.

    This is a chance to join one of the largest global insurance companies. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days in the London office (2 days-WFH).

    The purpose of the role is to provide support and challenge to the Group’s 1st Line of Defence functions, through the provision, and facilitation of, risk and control assessment processes, risk monitoring and remediation. Working closely with the CRCO and Senior Risk Manager, this role is pivotal to the ongoing enhancement of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, and provision of risk reporting throughout the 1ST Line and to the Executive and Board.

    Job Responsibilities & Competence

    • Enhance and maintain key risk management processes, including Top risk assessments, control assessments, deep dive risk and control assessments, stress and scenario analysis, emerging risk reporting, Climate risk assessment and monitoring and overall risk reporting to Executive and Board Committees;
    • Enhance and the ERM framework and risk management related policies & procedures;
    • Support the coordination and delivery of the HUAL ORSA processes and ORSA related reporting;
    • Partner with the business in making strategic decisions by providing relevant risk information, oversight and challenge;
    • Provide oversight and challenge the business in relation to management of risk and control environment;
    • Support the Executive, Board and other management in the effective operation of the risk management system;
    • Support in maintaining an organisation-wide and aggregated view on the risk profile of the firm including assisting with development of risk appetite and risk appetite reporting;
    • Contribute to the production of the formal quarterly reports to the Risk & Compliance Committee of the Board on the status of ERM;
    • Interface with US and International colleagues on Group and global risks, as well as risk management initiatives where necessary;
    • Lead the delivery of Internal Model Validation for HUAL, including a key co-ordination and delivery role for internal model non-technical validation;
    • Maintain awareness of current best practice thinking on ERM in our industry and communicate key emerging events to the Executive;
    • Lead and contribute on Risk Management initiatives, including assessment and implementation of risk tools, (GRC), development of new risk frameworks (Climate change / ESG) and assessment of SII reforms;
    • Support the 1st Line in managing risk events / incidents, including logging events and tracking actions and suggested remedial action;
    • Ensure that Lloyd’s principles for Risk Management are met and co-ordinate minimum standard returns to Lloyd’s;
    • Participate in forums, groups and committees to promote the identification and assessment of risks and events throughout the business;
    • Develop and maintain appropriate risk management training and deliver to the 1st line on a regular basis.

    Skills & Experience

    • Relevant experience within a risk role at an insurer, broker or FS company, preferably within the Lloyd’s Market;
    • Experience of Internal Model Validation and / or control assessment frameworks (e.g. Sarbanes Oxley) would be preferable;
    • Knowledge of FCA/PRA and Lloyd’s regulations would be preferable;
    • Ability to manage and prioritise;
    • Completer / finisher mind-set
    • Ability to work independently.
