IPS Group joined other recruitment consultancies at a Recruitment Partner Event hosted by ACE Group yesterday afternoon.

Following on from the overwhelming success of last years' inaugural event, 30 minutes of presentations were followed by drinks and canapés. This enabled ACE's recruitment consultancy suppliers to get a better insight into ACE and how to best represent ACE to prospective employees and job seekers.

Amongst those present were Line Managers from ACE and Phillip Cole, Global Head of HR for ACE Limited together with Sue Smith, Senior Vice President, Human Resources; ACE European Group.

IPS Group Director Jeremy Cross was presented with the "Recruitment Supplier of the Year" award for the second year in a row by Spencer Hurley, Resourcing Manager ACE European Group.

Jeremy commented "The IPS Group team has worked hard to build upon the success of being awarded 2010 ACE Recruitment Supplier of the Year, and we are delighted to be recognised again. We look forward to working with ACE during the next 12 months".

IPS and the Chartered Insurance Institute jointly hosted a reception in Shanghai on 11th April 2011. The reception was attended by more than 100 insurance executives and the guest of honour was the current Lord Mayor of London, Michael Bear, who was leading a trade delegation to China

At the reception the Lord Mayor said that he very much encouraged the export of the British services to China particularly the insurance and financial services industries and stated that he would assist this as much as possible. Greg Li, the Regional Director – Asia Pacific for the CII, briefed the audience on the CII's current involvement in the region and their future plans to become more established as a qualification of choice for the China market. Jimmy Ping, principal consultant for IPS in Shanghai, reminded those present of IPS’s long association with the CII and outlined IPS's involvement with the wider Asian insurance and financial services markets.

2011 will be a year of further development in Asia for the IPS Group according to Managing Director Alan Charlesworth. "We have made significant progress in our three Asian offices, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore, during 2010 and are set to expand further in 2011. We are actively looking for new staff in all offices to service client needs in 2011. In mainland China, our Shanghai office has performed well and we are looking to set up a Beijing branch later in the year to service client needs in North China."

IPS International Board member Sir David Brewer CMG has been made one of the Coalition Government's new Business Ambassadors.

The appointees, who together have a wealth of business experience and knowledge gained from a series of sectors and geographical markets, will join the Prime Minister and the Coalition Government in promoting the UK’s excellence in overseas markets.

IPS Group recently held a company fundraiser in support of its main charity for the year ‘Hope for Justice’. We would like to thank everyone across IPS in London and the regions who contributed and bought raffle tickets, bringing the donation total to just over £214! This Winter IPS Group is holding a company fundraiser in support of its main charity Hope For Justice. Human trafficking is a rapidly growing crime and there is a very real risk that the situation will get a lot worse as the 2012 Olympics momentum builds. Children as young as 3 are brought into the UK for sex, drugs and domestic servitude and 1000 children are at risk of sexual exploitation in London alone. Hope for Justice's mission is to fight against this, to assist in the protection and rehabilitation of victims and ensure perpetrators are prosecuted for their crimes.

Congratulations to Dean Tankard and his team Heskey Is God who are the IPS World Cup Fantasy League Champions. Having won the £1000 main prize, in true football style we'd expect nothing less than for Dean to be taking himself off to La Manga for some well earned sun and relaxation after a hard fought Fantasy World Cup - it's nice to see someone from England performed well in the World Cup! Well done Dean and thank you to everyone who took part in what really was an enjoyable inaugural foray in to the world of Fantasy Football for IPS.

The Directors of the IPS Group regret to announce the tragic and premature death of our much respected colleague and fellow director Edward Snell on Christmas Day following a stroke. Edward made a substantial contribution to the growth and success of IPS over the past 24 years and will be sadly missed by many people including his colleagues, clients and members of his extensive network in the insurance industry both in the UK and internationally.

Our thoughts are with his wife Jenny, stepson Will and family at this most difficult time. A memorial service will be held at St Margaret's, Lothbury EC2R 7HH in the City of London on Friday 15th January at 3.00 PM. This will be followed by a reception at the Merchant Taylors' Hall, Threadneedle St., EC2R 8JB. Please do not send flowers; instead Jenny and the family have suggested donations to the Stroke Association and a Just Giving page has been set up for this purpose: www.justgiving.com/ed-snell.

IPS is delighted to announce the opening of its office in Singapore from October 2009. Gareth Phillips will move there from the IPS London office. For Gareth, this is a return to his roots having been brought up and educated in Indonesia and Singapore. Gareth will be working on domestic Singapore appointments and regional South-East Asia roles in both the general insurance and financial services markets.

IPS is very pleased to announce the appointment of Charles Eady as the general manager of the Hong Kong office. Charles has worked in insurance recruitment at an executive level for many years and prior to that was an insurance broker. Charles adds considerable experience to our Asian presence and will be working closely with our teams in Shanghai and London to provide an integrated recruitment service to the North Asian insurance and financial services markets.

Staff throughout the IPS Group took part in fund raising events for Breast Cancer Campaign on Friday 31st October. London staff made and sold pink fairy cakes and everyone in London who wore pink and donated received a pink elephant treat !! Loads of cash was raised and as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility scheme, IPS Group contributed a few hundred more!!
