Role:
The successful management and delivery of IT Development projects.
Duties:
Development of the business case, systems prospectus and project charter for the development, clearly demonstrating adherence to roadmaps and corporate architecture policies.
Generation and delivery against a robust set of project plans, schedules and controls, providing reporting activities for projects to demonstrate progress to time, cost, quality and risk plans.
Manage risk and ensure that any strategic problems are identified at the earliest opportunity and that solutions are identified and implemented, in line with change control processes.
Select appropriate sourcing and delivery options ensuring cost competitiveness, skills mix and delivery quality is secured; managing vendor relationships and delivery where appropriate.
Manage one or more project teams, developing and maintaining manpower plans and monitoring the deployment of individuals to ensure that they are contributing effectively whilst developing skills and experience.
Liaise with management at the highest levels within the business, managing their expectations for projects.
Coordinate with service management teams to ensure successful transition of solution into service.
Manage contracts and relationships with third parties / managed service providers.
Technical Knowledge:
Principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation. Prince2/RUP/Agile
Methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects. Examples: product/work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, resource analysis, conflict resolution.
Management of budgets and financial forecasts.
The identification, assessment and management of project risks, which could result in time or cost over-runs, or failure to deliver products which are fit for purpose.
Solid technical background ideally based on hands on roles of systems design, development, implementation & operations – life cycle experience.
Able to provide and apply best practice techniques (bringing large organization experience.
Ability and experience of working across BU divisions and IT functions.
Delivery through 3rd party providers and their relationship management.
