Description:
To provide a technical claims handling service to the business unit, dealing with a wide range of responsibilities within the claims team. Primarily, to attend meetings with external parties, in order to negotiate and settle high value and complex claims on behalf of the Chester Street estate.
This will include responsibility for the handling of a small allocation of large value and technically complex claims, defining, implementing and monitoring technical standards, conducting checks/audits, advising on regulatory compliance requirements and providing coaching to staff as appropriate.
Accountabilities and Main Responsibilities of Job:
· Attend meetings with external parties, such as claimant’s solicitors, in order to negotiate and settle high value and complex claims on behalf of the Chester Street estate.· Provide expert claims advice across disease types to all Technicians.· Facilitate a link with best practice and disseminate any policy changes to the teams.· Attend meetings with the client, along with policy colleagues to provide technical input where required.· Undertake quality checks/audits and provide feedback on the results. Provide any one to one training with staff following on from audits/checks where it is deemed appropriate.· Provide work instructions and update in line with field of expertise.· Deliver group training where deemed appropriate to increase technical competencies of individuals and coach staff as required.· Provide the technical link between Operations and Technical training.· Act as a point of contact for technical queries within the teams.· Support and work with Team Managers to build training plan for Claims Technicians to develop and enhance productivity/quality/competence.· Support Team Managers and team in building solicitor relationships, collating and reporting on any solicitor feedback.· Manage own complex caseload to ensure retention of knowledge base across all work areas.· Progressing own caseload to avoid litigation and reduce costs.· Provide advice on Best Practice, utilising documentation and procedures.· Commit to own personal development, maintaining and developing technical knowledge and expertise.· Achieve defined quantitative targets whilst managing and prioritising own workflow.· Follow protocols and guidelines to ensure client’s service standards are met in accordance with Service level agreements.· Contribute to the achievement of both financial and reputational targets.· Provide analytical input into the technical decisions, issues and audit results.· Take on active role in the handling of above Delegated Authority cases, miscellaneous disease etc.· Provide advice on regulatory compliance requirements e.g. FSA.· Ensure the accurate recording and validation of third party recoveries with a particular emphasis on Cape and T&N.· Undertake Third Party Rights investigations and ensure the provision of appropriate advice/guidance to the teams.
Job Related Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
Essential
· Proven history of EL / PL claims handling experience.· Recent disease claims handling experience.· Previous experience of external solicitor visits, involving negotiation of complex and high value claims.· Working knowledge of FSCS rules and procedures. · Excellent negotiation skills.· Good understanding of medical and legal terminology.· Able to build good working relationships.· Good communication skills at all levels.· Able to achieve high standards of performance at all times.· Good IT skills.· Strong team player.· A commitment to learn and develop new skills.· Previous experience of coaching, mentoring and training delivery.· Full and current driving licence.· 5 GCSE passes including Maths and English – Grade C (or equivalent)
