Description:
An international Underwriting Agency based in the hart of the City has an exciting opportunity for a part/newly qualified accountant to join its main finance team.
The job holder will be responsible for the co-ordination and control of the monthly close process, preparation and submission of monthly GAAP results to internal management and the parent company, assist with the analytical review of US GAAP numbers against plan and prior periods, assist with the development of the UK and US reporting systems, develop and maintain management information and control systems including vision executive, business objects, Crystal reports and Hyperion Smartview, develop and maintain effective relationships with internal management, Head Office staff and auditors, assist in maintaining an appropriate internal control environment particularly with regard to Sarbanes Oxley compliance in the context of US GAAP reporting, assist with the preparation of financial plans and reforecasts and assist with ad hoc reporting requirements and project work.
Applicants must have experience in the insurance industry, with an understanding of insurance annual accounting concepts being a distinct advantage, an understanding of financial accounting principles as well as a solid working knowledge of financial systems and internal controls and be able to demonstrate significant experience in the use of spreadsheets and database applications.
